Say Something with Us (and Maybe Someone Else)!
Is there a monologue or scene from a work that you really want to perform, a story you want to tell, a piece from something you’ve written you’d like to showcase, or something new entirely you want to create to share?
Presented by Why's It Gotta Be? Theater Group, come out and perform it at Say Something! Volume Two: Better Together!
While not required, we’re excited to announce we’ll now be allowing up to two performers to share the stage together! And, as always, performers are encouraged to select a monologue or scene regardless of genre and, as always, of gender or age!

We wanted to create a space for performers to perform anything they really want to regardless of gender, age, or genre.
Whether there be a monologue or scene from a work that you really want to perform, a story you want to tell, a piece from something you’ve written you’d like to showcase, or something new entirely you want to create to share, we wanted to give people the space to do any of those things.
Performing things that speak to us and expressing things to others is incredibly cathartic for audience and performer. However, often the only spaces we have to perform the smaller scenes we want are at auditions, workshops, or self-produced events; and even then are confined to the gender, age, and genre we’re working with - let’s change that.
-
At this time - anything! Whether there be a monologue or scene from a work that you really want to perform, a story you want to tell, a piece from something you’ve written you’d like to showcase, or something new entirely you want to create to share, all that we ask is that you come prepared to do so!
Previous performances include:
Original monologues and scenes
Original character monologues and scenes
Monologues and scenes from existing works
Character moments from existing works
Reality TV confessionals
Iconic viral moments
Performers are encouraged to select a monologue or scene regardless of gender, age, or genre.
If you’re still wondering about what you’d like to perform, please contact admin@wigbtheater.org - we’re happy to field curiosities!
-
Registrants are encouraged to submit a video, audio recording, or text sample of the work they intend to perform when registering.
Samples may be informal - this is simply the next step in further developing Say Something!
-
We politely ask that work be kept under 10 minutes to allow space for a variety of interested performers.
-
While preparation is expected, memorization is encouraged in most cases but not required.
-
We will select up to ~16-18 pieces to be performed at Say Something! events.
-
The earlier registrant may perform the piece - the latter registrant will be notified and asked to select a different piece.
-
Rehearsals for Say Something! will be held on an event-by-event basis - similar to open mics, not all Say Something! events will have a rehearsal time.
Please check the current registration listing for upcoming information.
-
Performers may bring any props they would like for their performance. Please advise the production team of any props that may appear immediately dangerous. Props appearing immediately dangerous may be subject to safety checks prior to the performance.
Performers may bring any costuming they would like for their performance.
Barring perhaps a chair, a small table, or something similar, there will be no space allocated for set changes.
-
Photos of the space can be found at CitySpace’s website.
Performers will be given a tour of the performance space upon arrival.
-
Performers should advise the Lead Event Coordinator of any special entrance requests (i.e. side door, main door, from the audience) prior to the performance.
-
At this time, with the exception of pre-show and intermission music, there will be no use of sound systems or microphones during the performance - performers are expected to project their voices.
-
Should you anticipate a late arrival for call time, please make note when registering and / or advise the Lead Event Coordinator.
-
